Dragonflies

Features: An opportunity to visit and view the private Chidmere Pond, with the kind permission of the owners, taking time to look for and identify the dragonflies, in the company of expert John Arnott.

Meet: Cobnor Amenity Car Park (free). Take Chidham Lane to its southerly point and the entrance is at the point where the road turns sharply to the right/west. PO18 8TD.

WALKS AND TALKS

Wildflowers at Sandy Point
Features: A stroll through the restricted access nature reserve at Sandy Point with John Arnott, stopping to learn more about the habitats and plants.
Fee: £5 on the day.
Meet: by the gate to Sandy Point Nature Reserve, Seafarer’s Lane, Hayling Island, PO11 9TA. Roadside parking.

Harbour Creekies: Itchenor
Features: A 3½ mile gentle walk of the countryside and Harbour shoreline as we walk around the village of Itchenor.
Fee: £5 on the day (free to Friends of Chichester Harbour, bring membership number) to include coffee at the Quarterdeck Cafe. To join the friends click here.

Features: A walk of 3½ miles through countryside and along the shoreline, taking time to stop and view the Harbour at sunset. Dress to be warm sitting on the shoreline at dusk.

Features: An 11 mile circular walk from Itchenor through the villages of
East and West Wittering.

Features: Learn to take great photos of the bustling shoreside town of Emsworth, with professional photographer Paul Gonella. Bring enough camera batteries and memory cards for a 3 hour session.

A fun session run in partnership with Cobnor Activities Centre to both hear about the Harbour’s wildlife and to have a go at canoeing, learning from qualified instructors. Bring extra footwear to get wet (that stays on, not flipflops) and a change of clothes just in case. Complete the consent form available from the Cobnor Activities Centre website before the activity.

Solar Heritage Boat Trips

Solar Heritage is a 14-metre solar powered catamaran licensed for public boat trips. She can carry up to 50 passengers. The boat is open-sided for unimpeded views so you may like to bring a light jacket as it usually a little cooler on the water.  There is a toilet onboard and the boat is fitted with a wheelchair lift.

Directions: Please go to the bottom of South Street, walk 300m along the Promenade and wait at the top of the jetty 15 minutes before departure time and the crew will collect you. Park in the pay and display car park in South Street PO10 7EH.
