The natural and unspoilt sandy beach of West Wittering has been a favourite destination for a family day out for generations, and our Lifeguards play an important role in our visitor experience.
The role of a Beach Lifeguard is dynamic. Every day is different and Lifeguards must be trained and prepared to work in a variety of situations from water rescues to lost children and advising members of the public on beach safety. The role can be very demanding at times – especially in peak season, however it can also be extremely rewarding.
The fundamental purpose of the role is to prevent situations from occurring by responding to the fluid environment of the beach, with ever-changing tides, sea and weather conditions and educating the public.
The successful candidate will:
hold a current National Beach Lifeguard Qualification (or be prepared to complete the qualification by 15th July 2017)
work effectively as part of a team and be self-motivated
have excellent observation and communication skills
have a good knowledge of beach and surf environments
have the ability to remain calm and in control in emergency situations
be available for the 2017 summer season.
On successful completion of a fixed term contract with West Wittering Estate, there is an opportunity for the NBLQ course cost to be refunded.
