Assess the prevailing conditions and to place zone flags/warning signs/public information in appropriate positions on the beach and car park area so as to minimise the risk of the public getting into difficulties in the sea.
Closely monitor all persons bathing or surfing or taking part in other activities in the sea.
Carry out the rescue of any persons seen to be in difficulty in the sea and to inform other services if backup is required.
Carry out other duties such as: first aid, lost children giving advice, reporting of hazards, etc.
To maintain daily logs, provide written reports and keep a log of all incidents, ensuring all paperwork is completed correctly.
Be thoroughly conversant with the lifeguard service, NOP and EOP.
Responsible for conducting daily and weekly maintenance of the equipment and completing the relevant documentation.
Notify the Head Lifeguard, or in their absence, the deputy of any faulty/or damaged equipment.
Maintain a personal training log of all training activities.
Provide educational literature and information to school visits.
The successful candidate will:
hold a current National Beach Lifeguard Qualification
work effectively as part of a team and be self-motivated
have excellent observation and communication skills
have a good knowledge of beach and surf environments
have the ability to remain calm and in control in emergency situations
be available for the 2018 summer season .
On successful completion of a fixed term contract with West Wittering Estate, there is an opportunity for the NBLQ course cost to be refunded.
Fixed Term - Summer season 2018 - 40 hours per week to include weekends and bank holidays.
The Senior Lifeguards will support the Head and Deputy Head Lifeguard with the running of the lifeguard service, ensuring an effective provision of the service. To give help and advice to beach and water users and to provide and / or co-ordinate rescues and responses when required. Provide leadership, support and motivation to the lifeguard and beach patrol team.
To make daily contact with the Head Lifeguard/Deputy to report on operational matters such as staffing levels, damage to equipment.
To ensure rescue equipment is positioned adjacent to patrol zones and at any known dangers
To maintain daily logs, provide written reports and keep a log of all incidents, ensuring all paperwork is completed correctly
Maintain a positive image for West Wittering Estate in all matters with the general public
Be thoroughly conversant with the lifeguard service normal operating procedures and emergency action plan
To ensure all persons bathing or surfing in the sea are closely monitored
To coordinate patrols
Carry out the rescue and/or coordinate a response of any person seen to be in difficulty and to inform other services if back up is required
Carry out other duties including, but not limited to, first aid, lost children, giving advice and the reporting of hazards
Ensure the safe operation of all equipment

To manage roster changes and staff levels alongside the Head lifeguard/Deputy Head Lifeguard
Attend set training sessions
Support and mentor less senior members of the team
Essential – NVBLQ or equivalent. RWC operator.
Desirable - Full UK driving licence
2 Seasons of Beach Lifeguard experience with evidence of leadership
Fixed Term - Summer season 2018 - up to 40 hours per week to include weekends and bank holidays.
To assist in the smooth running of the Estate, ensuring it is clean and tidy at all times. To give help and assistance to customers and to provide support at points of entry and exit when required. To be able to handle cash responsibly and follow company procedures.
The role will include:
Assisting at points of entry and exit as required, including selling tickets, cash handling, directing traffic and answering queries.
Assisting with the maintenance and cleanliness of the Estate, including litter picking and toilet cleaning as required.
Carry out other duties such as assisting with the search for lost dogs/children, reporting of hazards, painting and general maintenance etc.
Maintaining radio contact whilst on site.
Comply with stated policies relating to Health and Safety, security, cash handling, emergency procedures and proper use and care of equipment and materials.
